Bale Mountain Trekking 6 days

Trek Dinsho to Sodota.

Summary / Route

You will trek for 5 -6 days hours to Sodota through the Web valley and then to Finch Habera waterfall where the Web and Wolla rivers join. This area is an outstanding bird watching spot, particularly for raptors. Set up camp for the night close to the falls Or Sodota campsite.

Elevation – 3100m – 3500m

Distance – 20km(5-6hrs)

Overnight – Sodota camp.

Trek to Wasema

Summary / Route.

Today you will make your way through the Meraro valley for 5-6hours until you reach the Wassema wilderness campsite. The trail is covered predominantly in Erica vegetation, wich in turn leads into Afro alpine habitats. Arrive at the campsite, located at the base of the Wassema Mountain (4200metres) and, if time permits you can also make the short 1hour trek to the summit wich offers superb panoramic views.

Elevation – 3500 m – 4200m.

Distance – 14km (5 -6hours)

Overnight – Wassema camp (Approx 4200m).

Trek to Danka

Summary / Route

Leaving the Wassema hills behind, you will head toward to Batu Tiko for approximately 6-7hours, following Worgona valley. Here the scenery changes dramatically as you pass the magnificent sheer cliffs of Arch’aah.

From here there will be a fairly steep ascent across one of the Karra Worgona passes and down into the beautiful Danka valley, giving you a wild picture of the volcanic activity that shaped the skeleton of this incredible landscape. Pass the craggy plug of Batu Tiko (“Little Batu” in the local language) and camp overnight beneath the strange ‘balancing’ rocks at the Danka campsite.

Distance – 17km(6 -7hours)

Overnight – Danka Campsite.

Trek Danka – Dinsho.

Summary / Route.

After leisurely breakfast you will pack up your tents and make your way down through the Danka valley for approximately 4 –5 hours, until you arrive back at the Dinsho Lodge campsite. Here you can take shower, rest and make preparation for your departure tomorrow.

Overnight – Dinsho Lodge.

Drive to Addis Ababa for departure.

Today drive Addis Ababa with stop in Asella for Lunch and continuing driving to Addis Ababa have fare well dinner at one of the traditional restaurants, then transfer to Airport for back home.
